GO TIME is a colaborative and open source organization devoted to encouraging and supporting the creative spirit through open communications, idea sharing and playing with robots!
The original concept for Go Time was born during a meeting of the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce a few years ago. The speaker for this meeting was a Volkswagen representative. Volkswagen had recently opened a new manufacturing plant here in Chattanooga TN and everyone was excited to hear about the new community benefits. The factory itself was an impressive array of automation and modern manufacturing techniques, but the part that impressed me the most was Volkswagen's dedication to its workers and their families. During the meeting, they spoke about their early education programs and family support. It was during this talk that I started to dream up a competition in which students would build simple, rubber band powered cars and compete against each other. In my mind, this competition would be a great way to connect kids to the mechanical principles involved in cars and car manufacturing. However, I did not have the courage to contact Volkswagen to see if they would be interested in hosting the competition at that time. Now, the idea has resurfaced and I feel that I have to opportunity to chase after it.
